Want to add something sexy to your investment portfolio? A hotel hits the right notes, and the high notes as well, judging from the attendance at this year's HICAP (Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific) Update, held at Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore from March 27 to 28.

Hot hotel investment issues were discussed at this year's conference, which saw a record attendance of over 400, according to Jonathan Zink, MD, BHN, a division of Northstar Travel Group.

While most hoteliers and key decision-makers in the hotel investment industry typically head to HICAP in Hong Kong to network and cut deals, the update in Singapore has gained significant ground in onsite deal making and focused insights into destinations.

"The programme in Singapore is country-focused, which makes it very approachable and accessible to investors who are interested in specific cities and regions. It's very easy to focus on the intricacies of each market. The programme in Hong Kong, on the other hand, is issue-focused and addresses industry trends, which takes into consideration the flux of global economic changes," says Jim Burba, co-founder, BHN.

Burba also shared that the 2019 Singapore update will be held in Grand Hyatt Singapore, and will present new programme formats that are intended to create a more personal and private setting for deal making. The cosy salons and living room ambience of the hotel's meeting space will provide the desired mood that has been requested by past attendees.

"Conference delegates want less formal conference sessions and more casual sessions where they are able to start a dialogue with speakers on pertinent issues. And there are attendees who are there to collect name cards and to cut deals; they want more face time with the senior decision-makers.

"To meet these demands, our Hong Kong conference in Kerry Hotel will utilise a much bigger space and will enable us to use it in a way that we have never had a chance to do before. We will be working on new spins and formats in order to create a dynamic and fluid environment that facilitates meaningful dialogue," says Burba.

HICAP 2018 will be held in Kerry Hotel, Hong Kong from October 17 to 19. Register now at https://hicap18.registerat.com/Home.aspx
