With so much negative news and destructive events happening around the globe, it is paramount that travel industry professionals stand together to create new ways to keep people travelling, according to Yeoh Siew Hoon, founder and managing director of Web in Travel (WIT).

"The travel experience must be enticing and motivational enough to fend off fear and adversity, so that people will not hesitate to travel - be it for work or leisure," she said.

With that in mind, WIT has gathered head honchos and disruptors of the travel industry for its annual WIT Conference in Singapore to share ideas on improving the travel experience.

Some 500 delegates are expected to attend the conference that will run from October 24 to 25, 2017 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore.

Also gaining momentum and popularity is the concurrently held WIT Bootcamp, which will take place on October 23.

The event features WIT's annual Startup Pitch competition for travel entrepreneurs to take their ideas to investors and mentors. Powered by Travelport Labs, this year's competition attracted a record-breaking number of entries from around the world.

This year, 12 semi-finalists have been selected to pitch at the bootcamp, to compete for a place in the Grand Finals, happening on the last day of the WIT conference. Among other prizes, the winner will receive seed funding of up to US$30,000 and a spot in the Travelport Accelerator Lab programme in Denver.
